SHOOTING THE BREEZE

Wednesday 19 May

The days are passing quickly - they are just one continuous cycle
of hot days and cool nights. Last night I wore a polar fleece for
the first time in weeks. The highlight of every day is the 1730
position reports sked and dinner ...(static)... Dinner is always
good and the skeds getting better.. We spend all afternoon trying
to guess how many miles we may have lost or gained on Outrageous
III. In the North East Trade Winds we went for a few days with
absolutely no change in our positions relative to each other.
Today was a good day as we now have under one thousand miles to
go and we have taken 97 miles out of Outrageous III in three
days. It is still a long way to go though .

On Monday we were buzzed by a US navy ...(static)...
reconnaisance aircraft. We had a long chat with them on VHF They
were based in Guam and were just out having a look around or so
they say. We also passed quite close to a ship and had a chat
with them on VHF. It was a very social day and the most contact
we have had with the outside world since the start of the race.
